Scorpions moved the rigid inflatable boat concept from practical runabout to a genuine offshore sea boat in 1996 when we designed the first ever hull specifically for a RIB. It featured a deep V 24 degree hull and reverse chines for optimum offshore performance. And we reinvented the RIB above the waterline too, with balanced, compact tubes for better manoeuvrability, improved aesthetics and longer life.
Our new design gave our early boats a comfortable, dry ride and outstanding ability in rough conditions and earned them an impressive haul of world endurance records and racing results that are unrivalled by any other boat in their class. Over the years, all aspects of our boats’ design, build and fit-out has evolved to the point where they are widely regarded as the best RIBs in the World.
Every Scorpion is hand built in our dedicated facility in Lymington by an experienced team, to the precise requirements of its owner. Each one of them benefiting from 20 years of record-breaking offshore and ocean passages to deliver a soft, comfortable and safe ride with outstanding performance in all conditions.

1995 - Scorpion redefined the rigid inflatable boats with the first ever hull specifically developed for the RIB market. It featured a deep V 24 degree hull and reverse (scalloped) chines for optimum offshore performance with balanced compact tubes for improved maneuverability and durability.
1997 - Scorpion launched the first ever cabin RIB giving enhanced practicality, serious cruising capabilities and overnight accommodation to satisfy the new breed of adventurous RIB enthusiasts.

In 2012, four times British Olympic Gold medalist Sir Ben Ainslie chose the Scorpion Serket 98 as his chase boat for his AC45 campaign team competing in the Americas Cup World Series, a professional circuit of match and fleet race regattas comprising some of the world’s best sailing teams. This global spectacle brings Americas Cup level racing to international sailing venues. The Serket made an idea chase boat for Ben both on the water and off as with its tubes deflated, the Serket 98 fits into a standard shipping container, making shipping around the world to the next event simple and inexpensive.
The America’s Cup is the oldest trophy in sport dating back to 1851, and is also regarded as the hardest to win. The 2013 event comprised two different stages, The Loius Vuiton Cup and the America’s Cup Finals in which Ben’s Team Oracle famously made the come back of all time to win the last nine races to beat Team New Zealand nine to eight.

Scorpion proprietary designed twin stepped hull incorporating full length longitudinal stringers and underdeck fuel tank. Vinyl ester gel and resin throughout; for improved resistance to osmosis, UV and distortion.
Scorpion deck and top mouldings, with vinyl ester gel and resin throughout. Deck stiffening by means of class leading structural polymer foam.

Raised fore-deck with large locker and lockable stainless steel catch.
Proprietary Scorpion console with colour matching stripe, two stainless steel handles, large forward facing locker and stainless steel grab handle for crew position. Helm position to port or starboard.
Twin electrically operated bolster seats for driver and co-pilot, incorporating aft facing double seat and locker for storage of teak topped table.
