Négrel Antiques: French Antiques & Decorative Arts
What constitutes timeless design? You know it when you see it: a combination of classic lines, expertly-crafted detail, and historical presence otherwise known as soul. Gathering antique furnishings that embody these fine qualities is Pierre and Cathy Négrel’s passion. The Austin, Texas, couple have been traveling regularly to France since 1994. Combing the lavender-lined back roads, looking for the best pieces at international antique fairs, bantering with artisans and antique dealers, they carefully pick one-of-a-kind pieces that speak to them, then transport their finds back to their gorgeous showroom in thriving downtown Austin, Texas to find them a home.
Louis XVI chests, Louis Philippe mirrors, farm tables, Provençal buffets, deco armchairs, mid-century modern furniture, Murano chandeliers—Négrel Antiques today is a trove of 18th- to 20th-century treasures from France, Italy, Spain, and beyond. It’s a blend that reflects the Négrels’ own aesthetic roots. Cathy, a native Texan, grew up in an architect-designed home with a mom who mixed mid-century modern with European antiques. Pierre, born in Provence, learned from a savvy dealer-friend to spot hand-wrought objects with a discerning eye.
The Négrels take pride in their expertise and attentive service that continues to win repeat customers from around the world.
