Gents & Co Ltd was founded in Leicester, England by John Thomas Gent in 1872.
In the 19th Century, the company was well-known as producing electric clocks which were used in public buildings and railway stations all over the world. It was taken over by Chloride becoming "Chloride Gent", in 1982 it was sold to MK Electric Group and became "Gent Limited". It was acquired by Cardamon/Novar in 1993 and finally taken over by Honeywell and Gent by Honeywell.

The company is based in Leicester and mainly manufactures fire detection and alarm systems. By the size of our clock, we could assume that it was display in a railway station.
