A dream for the collector or enthusiast

The 1951 MG TD Roadster featured here is finished in the stunning color of Ivory/Cream over a wonderful red leather interior with a beige folding convertible top. This particular example was completed at The Abingdon Works Centre in June 1951 and by 1980 was part of the private collection belonging to Curgie Pratt of Arizona. In 1987, Pratt entrusted renowned restorer, Barry Briskman, of Automobiles Water Here, to perform a full ground-up restoration to bring the TD to original condition. In 1988, this example was acquired by an Arizona artist who would go on to own the car for the next 30 years. Beginning in January 2018, the specialists at British Automotive Repair in Scottsdale were commissioned to renew the running condition of the MG. Over $5,500 was invested in order to ensure that all mechanical systems are in order. This MG has been driven less than 3,500 miles since its restoration and is accompanied by its owner's and workshop manuals, recent service invoices, purchase paperwork and much more. We are proud to offer this wonderful 1951 MG TD Roadster to the most astute collector, investor or enthusiast who appreciates the charm and appeal of this iconic British roadster. **HISTORY OF THE MG TD**
The successor to the popular MG TC, the TD was first constructed in 1949 with MG eyeing the North American market who previously fell in love with the sporty appeal of the TC. Improvements over its predecessor were plentiful with the TD being five inches wider (for more room in the passenger compartment) while front independent suspension as well as rack and pinion steering greatly improved handling. Smaller wheels with bigger tires allowed for more refined front fenders while a now standard 4-speed gearbox allowed for higher speed cruising. The hand-built quality of the TD added to the charm and production of the model lasted until 1953. A perfect combination of pre-war style with post-war performance, the TD helped to solidify MG's reputation as a sports car company. The MG TD is still viewed as a charming British roadster with timeless appeal. It is no wonder why examples are respected and collected in both professional and enthusiast circles.
