### DESCRIPTION

Antique late-19th Century Burmese (Myanmar) solid silver thabeik repousse' bowl, very well made and heavy gauge, repousse' decorated in high relief with six different scenes from the Burmese mythology, representing various figures and animals in a landscape, The quality of the bowl is simply outstanding, heavy gauge and very crisp. The base engraved with a peacock mark, there are number of different variations of the peacock signature, all of whom are are indirectly claiming past royal patronage by using this mark (see Wilkinson's page 41), the bowl also marked with later Soviet import marks (875 silver standard).
