ANTIQUE 19thC VICTORIAN SOLID SILVER HUNTING FLAGON, ROBERT HENNELL c.1855
Antique mid-19th Century Victorian solid silver hunting flagon, of waisted cylindrical form, tankard with hinged lid, raised on a spreading base, the body profusely embossed with a violent hunting scenes, depicting hounds and deer amongst flowers and foliage, reverse with a large vacant cartooche surrounded by a shell and scroll boarder, mounted with a very elaborate C-shaped scroll handle and a shaped spout. The flat, hinged lid mounted with naturalistically cast hound and stag finial.
Hallmarked on the body and lid English silver (925 standard), London, year 1855 (U), Maker's Mark R.H (Robert Hennell III)
