EB010 – 2004 Yamaha XV250 (Virago)

The popularity of Yamaha's XV250 (Virago) cannot be understated. (You may expect to now see some high sales figures, but I couldn't find any)... Suffice to say though that there's @#$% loads of them around. And there's a good reason for that... they do what they do very well. And what that is, is offer an inoffensive, approachable, easy, reliable, economical ride. Not at a blistering pace mind you, (though I was surprised how well they go for a little bike) and the cruiser aesthetics are not to everyones taste. But if you like that sort of thing and haven't got a lot in the budget they're hard to go by.

There have also been many custom interpretations of the humble Virago (usually based on the bigger versions) and that's what our recent client and friend George C wanted. George, along with his business partner Wilton are film makers and made our first video clip.

Rather than go to town and turn it into a cafe, street tracker etc we thought a mild customisation, retaining the cruiser feel with some bobber hints would work in this case and better suit George.

From the front we have:

new bars, indicators, adjusted guard, re-located choke lever, lost the throttle return cable (replaced by a spring on the carb), pod intake (for dry day riding only), gold colour scheme on the tank, moded exhaust, custom seat, adjusted rear inner guard, used as external guard, indicators, taillight and number plate bracket.

Whilst they're only basic mods and much more could have been done, they make a tangible visual difference and turn the wanabe looks into something cooler and tougher.
