How investors can receive citizenship in Cyprus

The Cyprus (EU) Citizenship by investment program is not a residence permit or a visa but full citizenship of this EU-member state.
It requires €2 million to be invested in Cyprus for a period of three years, and citizenship is approved in just six months.
There have already been 3 billion euros of direct investments in Cyprus via this program.

What are the advantages?
It's relatively easy to receive citizenship if you are an investor.
The Cypriot passport is a full EU passport which allows the investor and his family can to live, work, study, and carry out business in any of the EU-member states as well as in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Iceland.
Cypriot passport holders can travel visa-free to 157 countries around the world.
Dual-citizenship is permitted. Cypriot citizenship is not reported to other countries.
Passports are also issued to the investor’s spouse as well as all financially dependent children (up to 28 years of age). The following generations of investors retain their EU citizenship.
Parents of an investor can apply for citizenship as long as they are owners of a permanent home in Cyprus worth at least €500,000.
There is an express passport process – requiring 3 months for approval, and a further 3 months to receive the passport.

Program that does not call for residing in Cyprus
Here, there is a minimum investment needed of €2 million - all the figures in this section do not include VAT where VAT is indeed applicable.
Investments must be retained for just 3 years, after which the asset can be sold.
The law says that a property with a minimum value of €500,000 must be retained as a private residence. In any case, this private residence can be rented thus providing rental income for investors.
No payment is needed to the government of Cyprus
There is no requirement to pass a history and language proficiency test
