INCREDIBLE WOOLLY MAMMOTH LOWER JAW WITH M2 MOLAR TOOTH

US$2,500.00

Here is an incredible woolly mammoth lower jaw (mandible) preserved with a complete M2 molar tooth. This amazing find was recovered by fishing trawlers dredging the bed of the North Sea in Holland. It is 40,000 years old - Pleistocene Age - and comes from Flevoland Province in the Netherlands, a location famous for Ice Ae megafauna fossils, including woolly rhino, giant Irish elk, sabre toothed cats and other marvellous prehistoric mammals.

This rare specimen is exquisitely preserved and has great scientific and educational value. The details of the molar's grinding surface enamel is fully intact, and the foramina can be seen, wherein the nerves and vessels were carried.

Jaw measures 15.75 x 12.75 inches (40 cm x 32.4 cm). Tooth measures 7 x 3.5 inches (17.8 cm x 8.9 cm), Weighs 7 kg (15.4 lbs.)

Interestingly, the wooly mammoth (_Mammuthus primigenius_) had 6 sets of teeth throughout its lifetime, which were progressively larger. They are designated as P2, P3, and P4, and M1, M2, M3\.
