This adorable elephant from 2003 is part of Jeff Koon's series of mirror-polished sculptures inspired by inflatable toys. Koons's works challenge the conventional distinction between art and kitsch. The New York-based, US-born artist, who is featured in MoMA's collection, draws his inspiration from the world of advertising and commercial art, but also from daily life, childhood and art history. Innocence, beauty, sexuality and happiness are all favorite themes. The plate was made in collaboration with renowned porcelain manufacturer Bernardaud, which has crafted fine Limoges porcelain since 1863. Dishwasher safe. Limited edition of 2500.
