Mark Hearld, Mark Hearld, 2010

US$434.72

The centrepiece of the Mark Hearld for Tate range, a limited edition print celebrating Tate Britain and British Art, produced by the legendary Curwen Press.

Using Mark Hearld's original hand drawn lithograph, the printing process involved 5 separate plates, and uses 100% cotton 300gsm Somerset velvet paper. Limited edition of 75. Each edition is numbered and signed.

Set up in 1863, The Curwen Press has a long-standing reputation for excellence in printing, encouraging artists to work directly on lithographic stones and plates, and helping to generate interest in the potential of lithography for mass production of original work. The Press started a design revolution in typography and illustration in the 1920s when it commissioned work from artists including Edward Bawden, Paul Nash and Eric Ravilious in an era which contributed dramatically to their lasting reputation. It now continues to be a hugely sympathetic and inspiring professional environment for experiments in printmaking. Many major artists have worked closely with the master printer Stanley Jones at the Curwen Studio, including Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, John Piper, Ceri Richards, Alan Davie and Dame Elisabeth Frink.

Print measures 70.5 x 95.2cm

Available exclusively from Tate Online Shop and the Tate Britain shop, the Mark Hearld for Tate range was commissioned to celebrate the wealth of creative talent in the UK and to help promote and support British manufacturing and the specialist skills that go with it.

The range consists of a limited edition lithographic print printed by the renowned Curwen Press, ceramics produced by 150 year old pottery specialists Burleigh, as well as a greetings card set, a pigeon post letter, printed tote bag, embossed notebooks and a cushion cover. All items in the range are made in the UK to the highest standards and with close attention to detail.
