This Mercedes 300 SEL is fitted with the company's extremely powerful 6.3 litre M100 V8 engine that featured in the luxurious Mercedes 600 Pullman limousine. This powerful combination created what many regarded to be the first 'super saloon', capable of reaching cruising speeds of 125mph with astonishing acceleration in absolute luxury.

With air suspension, automatic transmission, central locking and power steering all being standard features, at a time when most manufacturers didn't even list them as extras, the 300 SEL became synonymous with luxurious travel.
