Extremely rare gold Rolex "Pre-Daytona" ref. 6238, manufactured in 1966. Made for the North American market, the present 14k yellow gold example is preserved in excellent condition. The unrestored silver dial features the inner tachometer scale and the "T-SWISS-T" at lower edge by 6 o'clock.
Launched in 1960, the "Pre-Daytona" ref. 6238 is the immediate predecessor of the 6239 the very first Daytona reference. It is the last Rolex chronograph to feature a plain bezel and an inner tachymeter scale. Produced predominantly in stainless steel, only a few examples were made in gold. It definitely represents a great example of sporty elegance.
