A set of twelve Pirelli Calendar Shots from the 1973 Calendar.

The Pirelli calendar is a trade calendar published by the Pirelli company's UK subsidiary. The first calendar was produced in 1964 and it became famous for its uncompromisingly exotic and often erotic photography of glamorous female models. It was produced in very small numbers as it was only given as a corporate gift to a restricted number of important Pirelli customers and celebrity VIPs.

In 1965 Duffy was asked to create a Pirelli calendar which he shot on location in Monaco.
He was commissioned to shoot a second calendar in 1973 which he created in collaboration with British pop artist Allen Jones and air brush specialist Phillip Castle. He was Was one of the "Terrible Trio", with fellow photographers David Bailey and Terence Donovan together they represented a new breed of photographer and in many ways helped to create, the "Swinging London" of the 1960s.
Duffy is quoted as saying 'before 1960, a fashion photographer was tall, thin and camp. But we three are different: short, fat and heterosexual!' He had a ten year working relationship with artist David Bowie and shot five key sessions over this period and was the creative force behind record album sleeve art for three album covers, including the 1973 Aladdin Sane, 1979 Lodger and 1980 Scary Monsters & Super Creeps on which Duffy shot the photographs and then employed the services of artist Edward Bell to paint a picture of the photograph.
Duffy's input had a significant influence on Bowie's public image creation. In 1979 Duffy decided to give up photography, burning many of his negatives, though some were saved from the fire when the council objected to the smoke. In 1983 he directed the music video for Spandau Ballet's single 'Gold' and shot two pop promos for the Human League.
