Jean-Luc Le Mounier is a French furniture designer living and working in his studio in Brittany. He spent the major part of his childhood in his grandfather’s carpentry workshop. His childhood was steeped in the universe of crafting, conception and creation of wood objects. As a child, he would create tiny furniture with tools and materials he found in the workshop. After his high school graduation he studied cabinetmaking for eight years at the Compagnon du devoir et du Tour de France. This training taught him not only the necessary knowledge required to build cabinets but also values of humanism and transmission that are evident in his designs. Combining tradition and modernity, his creations favor contemporary lines while reflecting the history of furniture. An exceptional furniture designer, Jean-Luc Le Mounier raises cabinetmaking up to the level of art. In a wonderful contrast between strength of the bronze, smooth curves and depth of the ebony, Jean-Luc Le Mounier designs provide the nobility that cabinetmaking deserves. Working in his Dinard-based workshop in the heart of his native Brittany, he conceives his creations with precious materials including crystal and Spanish cedar. Jean-Luc Le Mounier won the Youth Art Workshop Creators of France contest in 2009, and in 2013 opened his own workshop. His works later formed part of the exhibition at the Carrousel du Louvre.
