Beautiful white marble or alabaster sculpture from 19th century Sicily. Good condition, except for an old cracking at the base of the neck, almost invisible considering that, being covered in pure gold in many parts, as they used to do at the time, it is really confused. The sculpture is very impressive, please note St Joseph’s face and that of baby Jesus. It is really amazing how, in a sculpture like that, the baby can be so small with such a tiny face as to create a wonderful, peaceful expression, as well as St. Joseph. An excellently crafted sculpture, sized 10 x 10 cm at base x 34 cm height, with an approximate weight of 2.5 kg.
