DETAILED PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Ladies & gentleman, may we present to you a precious Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref.96 in Stainless Steel. Any Patek collector will know that Steel is a precious alloy from the company and legend has it that only one was produced for every 250 pieces in gold. In early 2014, this watch left the Patek Philippe's Geneva factory again after coming out from a complete restoration. It presents good as new now as you can see from the pictures. It was sealed in their vacuum pack for protection but we have opened it for photography only and the watch has never been worn since acquisition in recent years. This watch is meant for the most demanding collector who wants nothing but the best. This Calatrava is a nearly 70years old but is fresh as new except not being water resistant and beware of scratching the plastic crystal. Otherwise, it will serve you well like any modern manual winding Patek Philippe. The owner took much effort and money to have it restored by the factory where an invoice bearing S$3610 was spent on the watch and given to you. It has a new Patek alligator strap and most unusually, a precious PP signed vintage style steel buckle! All these are huge value added to the watch. It is ready to be worn and needs nothing. The Ref.96 Calatrava traces its roots back to the early 1930s and was in production up to the 1950s. It was replaced by Ref.3796 followed by 5196 which is still in production now. The flat & polished bezel is the unmistakable feature of this model and quintessential identity of the brand for much of the last century. Production of the round movement calibre 12'''-120 started in 1935, of which 24'188 pieces were made and used until 1953. This movement was housed in classic, round or fantasy cases including cloisonné enamel dial Worldtime Ref.1415. A rare opportunity not to be missed. Steel Calatravas are very rare watches (not produced in the last 50yrs) and they are often found to be in very tired condition with poor dials, badly corroded cases & discoloured movements so to find one in this nearly mint condition is a treasure indeed. 23+/- turns on the crown to a full wind.
