Dating to the 1940's or 1950's these vintage authentic Cartier earrings are the first of their kind that we've seen and are quite possibly unique. Crafted in 14 karat yellow gold, these earrings feature a bird with an open body and a round head with pointed beak. Centered in the head, is a single old European cut flush set diamond eye. Grading as VS clarity and G colorless color, the diamonds have a combined weight of 0.06 carats. Dating to the post war retro period, these wonderful earrings are a classic example of Cartier's retro style. Measuring 3/4 inches in height by 1 inch from wing to wing, these earrings feature adjustable backings designed to adjust for different thickness earlobes to ensure that the earrings will not fall off. Earrings are signed on the lever backings, along with their Cartier style/serial number and the hallmark for 14 karat gold. The gold content of these earrings would indicate that they were produced by Cartier likely in their New York workshop for the domestic market.
