This is a set of four Victorian, antique dining chairs dating back to the 19th century.

- The dark Japanned, lacquered, frames are beautifully highlighted with mother of pearl inlaid garlands, foliate and floral detail accentuated by gold leaf highlights.

- The splayed tapering and turned front legs and circular section rear are united by a box stretcher with the fore most delicately turned. The pinched stiles rise into the shaped crest rail above the swagged splat.

- In proportion to the construct, the caned seat is held within a formed frame at a comfortable height. Bergere cane seating in good order save for some expected sag consistent with use in two of the chairs.
