**Late 17th century, Japan**

**Height: 12.5cm 4.92inches, length: 21.5cm 8.46inches**

The conch shell form pouring vessel is placed on three coral like feet, the overall surface is encrusted with smaller shells, barnacles and sea weed glazed in yellow, blue and green enamel. The unglazed ground is textured like granular white, with the exception of the underside base and a certain number of bands that highlight the shells layers, these are glazed in a light celadon. The cover is decorated in the same fashion, with the finial in the form of a crab and the interior lip in iron red.
