An 18th century refined linen closet made entirely from solid oak, during the Dutch Louis XVI period around 1780-1790. Beneath the top is a block/toothed edge. The cabinet has two doors with flat panels which are framed with refined profiles. The frames & slats of the doors are connected by arched* pin & hole connections. *Arched refers to the piece of round wood which goes through the connection to keep it tight during and after the glueing process. Afterwards this is sawn off and it remains visible, this round pin is called the arched pin. The left door still has the two original forged side slides. The right door still has the original lock with working key. Both doors are fitted with a detailed brass key entrance with the typical classical decoration shapes such as; the rams’ heads, bows, garlands, etc. Behind the doors, that turn on their original brass hinges, are three shelves. The bottom one is a fixed shelf and the top two shelves are adjustable. The obliquely placed doorposts have three fluting and a simple profiled ornament, with below it a flat plinth. At the front the closet rests on high elegant tapered legs with a slight uneven profile on the bottom. This relatively small model linen closet has a fair look, a nice warm gold orange colour and patina, and nice silky gloss of the original wax finish!Dimensions: Height: 149.5 cm, width: 94.5 cm, depth: 38 cm.
