DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century Russian Import solid silver centerpiece in a form of a palm tree, the base of the tree decorated with various exotic foliage and applied with a figure of an ostrich, the four sided base embossed with flowers, scroll work and beaded boarders, bearing 4 blank cartooches. The top terminating with palm leaves holding the frosted glass fruit bowl.

Hallmarked Russian Imported solid silver 84 ПТ (abbreviated in Cyrillic for 'imported goods', mark used between 1882-1898), further marked 875.M a silver standard commonly used in Russia in the 19th century. The centerpiece is probably originally made in German or Austria.
