Antique early-20th Century rare French solid silver-gilt singing bird automaton box, of rectangular form, guilloche enamelled in translucent blue over a sun ray and wavy engine-turned ground, the oval cover enamelled with views of the countryside at dawn, opening to reveal a singing feathered bird, comes with original bird shaped key.

Fully working condition and original mechanism. Hallmarked French silver guarantee mark (Crab 900+ standard), maker's mark J.C (J.Granvigne, 4 Rue Beranger, Paris, succeeded by Tetard)
