This is a fabulous white marble and ormolu mantel clock c.1850 in date. This beautiful clock is surmounted by a flaming torch and quiver with arrows alongside a figure of Cupid blowing a horn. The other side has a compass and square which gives this clock Masonic overtones. Cupid is the god of desire, erotic love, attraction, and affection. He is often portrayed as the son of the love goddess Venus, and is also known in Latin as Amor, his Greek counterpart is Eros. It has a white enamelled dial with Roman numerals, the twin train movement with outside count wheel striking on a bell. The movement is stamped to the rear "Vincenti & Cie, Medaille D'Argent 1855" with the number "230946" The clock rests on four toupie feet. This is a marvelous quality clock which would look amazing on your mantel piece. Condition: In excellent condition having been fully restored in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation. Vincenti died in 1834 with the clockmaking business that he started continuing to win numerous awards including the Medaille d’Argent (silver medal) in 1855.
