A Japanese large box and cover, decorated in various lacquer techniques, with pewter (Namari), sabii (mix of silver and tonoko) and eggshell on a black lacquer ground depicting dried persimmon fruit (Hoshigaki). The interior in red lacquer.
The fitted box signed by the artist, Sekitani Fouji, born in Aizu, Wakamatsu-shi, Fukushima Prefecture in the 15th year of Taisho (1926). He was a pupil of Takaguchi Rokkaku. He exhibited many times and won Nitten prizes on several occasions.
