EARLY 19TH CENTURY VIDE POCHE OCCASIONAL TABLE

An early 19th century continental, probably Austrian, vide-poche occasional table. The border incorporating a draw, retaining the original Gilt Bronze mounts on shaped supports with inverted hinge feet.

The vide-poche table often made on the continent and are known so for their recessed surfaces and dish-like design. Made in a number of woods such as walnut, cherrywood and mahogany were used to accommodate keys, card cases etc. Made from the late 18th century onwards, these remarkable little tables are always in popular demand.
