Little is known of the early and personal life of one of Irelands most renowned cabinet making firms, Robert Strahan & Co. It is known that on Wednesday 4th July 1866 an advert appeared in ˜The Freemans Journal™ from the Society of Operative Cabinetmakers of the City of Dublin who presented an address of condolence on the melancholy death of Mr. A. Strahan, brother of Robert Strahan. It is noted that Robert Strahan was the senior partner in the firm. Mr. A. Strahan was killed in a fire at premises on Westmoreland Street, Dublin.
