Shiva, Cosmic Dance, India, 11th Century

US$27,000.00

The lord of the dance, Shiva Nataraja is depicted with eight arms, and each hand holds an object that leads back to the very meaning of the gestures. The right foot rests on the ground, symbolizing his grace, which limits consciousness and allows souls to grow by experiencing the world. The left foot is supported by a devotee. Alternatively, figure under his foot can be Apasmara, who is incarnation of darkness and ignorance. In fact, the dance has a strong spiritual meaning, the deity with his movements shows the creative and destructive power that creates the world, destroys and recreates it in a temporal loop. A sculpture full of symbols and rich in detail, balanced perfectly by the expression of the face always serene.
Sculpture ready for expo in according with Fine Art Academy of Brera, Milan.
