It is crafted from beautiful rosewood and features a central writing surface, with a gold tooled faded green leather inset, that can be raised or lowered as required for comfort when writing. The back of this section lifts to reveal a compartment for stamps, letters, pens, ink, etc. It has been wonderfully inlaid by a master craftsman and the quality of the work is breathtaking. The desk has two drawers in the frieze with three useful drawers below the back of the kneehole, perfectly sized for all the stationary you could possibly need, making it not just a symbol of refinement but a practical furnishing as well. It stands on it's original brass and porcelain castors as well as having the original handles. The desk is beautifully is finished on all sides so that it can stand freely in the middle of a room.
