Two-piece sideboard made of solid walnut in revival of Louis XIII style France, ca. 1730

French piece of furniture made of solid walnut, composed of two parts: a sideboard with two doors and three drawers and a superstructure with two doors. The superstructure is richly decorated with an important top frieze with carved plant scrolls, a cherub in the middle, two side friezes and three half spiral columns, of which two with acanthus leaves on the capitals. The sideboard has the same decoration with half columns of the upper part, with the addition of rosettes on the side uprights and in the secret central drawer. The four doors are panelled and divided into four parts, with carvings in the shape of lilies (symbol of the French monarchy) and rosettes. On several panels there is a brand with a symbol (see photo no. 2). The sideboard has a wide space with inner shelves in the upper part and also in the lower part. The central drawer hides a secret compartment with sliding lid (see photos 11, 12 and 13). The sideboard has two original keys: one only for the drawers and one for the upper and lower doors.
