Late Gothic Brabantine corpus in walnut - Flanders, Belgium - ca 1500

The perizonium is unmistakably late-Gothic. The pronounced chest and the sharp knees also betray the late-Gothic style. The original polychromy is still present under a light layer from a later date. Christ carries a heavy crown of thorns with hair hanging down nicely. The height (32 cm) indicates it was probably used at home. (Cfr. Beloken hofke of Binnenhuis-retabel )Height 32 cm / width 32 cm.
