Stunning Lion of St. Mark in Royal Yellow marble, entirely carved and sculpted by hand, a wonderful reproduction of the Most Serene Republic in bas-relief, from Venice. The item was part of an exclusive private collection of Venetian objects and was placed in an important Venetian villa. The quality of the sculpture is extraordinary and the workmanship is incomparable. This lot is one of a kind, exclusive and not to be missed. The details are depicted with extreme precision and skill, a meticulous work that defines and completes the item in an extraordinary way. The Royal Yellow marble type is an added value in this artwork, with unusual veins and different shades of colours in some parts. This rainbow effect with orange, red, yellow and pink is a feast for the eyes. The mane and the wings of the lion are beautiful and the anatomy of the animal was made with meticulous care. Overall it is well proportioned, with reasonable dimensions and a very low weight. Great to hang on the wall by the use of some irons (preferably old) but it can also be placed on a solid surface. In short, it is a lot never presented and seen before, a marble ornament fine and elegant but at the same time powerful, strong and proud. In perfect condition and intact in all its parts.
