Feldschuh Gallery - Henri Cartier-Bresson, Calle Cuauhtemocztin, 1934

US$28,000.00

The work of Henri Cartier-Bresson oscillates between the fantasy of Surrealism and the reality of early photojournalism. He achieves a balance of the two extremes in this 1934 double portrait of Mexico City prostitutes. The exaggerated expression and makeup of the woman to the viewer's left creates an element of fantasy embedded within an otherwise typical scene of the Mexican capital. This photograph also resides in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
