The four images in this set were selected by Henri Cartier-Bresson to create a limited-edition portfolio. Pictured clockwise, from top left: an intimate portrait of documentary photographer Martine Franck, his second wife; a 1934 scene of lesbian love in Mexico ("I would never have managed them to pose," he said of the unstaged tableau); the naked body of Surrealist artist Leonor Fini, afloat in Italy in 1933; and a relaxed take on the theme of classical nudes. Each gravure has been signed and editioned by the artist in pencil.
