A specialist in underwater photography, Kurt Arrigo consistently surpasses the limits of possibility in order to create new and original shots that associate sport and the aquatic world. His compositions are taken both above and below the water, revealing the play of light penetrating its surface. In the same way, the dancers that he photographs appear to be in their element, moving gracefully and majestically.

**The artist: Kurt Arrigo**

Kurt Arrigo is among the great specialists of marine photography. In the course of his career, already illustrious and varied, he has notably covered high-level nautical competitions, swum with hammerhead sharks, and undertaken intrepid environmental projects from the Galapagos Islands to the Himalayas. Born in 1969 on the island of Malta in the Mediterranean, he has been passionate about the marine environment since childhood and was a precocious swimmer, diver, and sailor. He was hired as a professional photographer for the first time in 1992 to cover the America’s Cup, and was later invited to cover many other regattas, such as the Rolex Fastnet Race or La Barcolana. Beyond his many commissions for advertising, his work also gained recognition through the famous Underwater World Championships of Photography held in the Red Sea in 1995, and on the occasion of the annual Communications Arts photography competition in 1997. In 2012, he was finally awarded the prestigious prize of Yacht Racing Image of the Year.
