Jean Monneret was born in 1922 at Chalon-sur-Saône, France and is one of the best-known painters of the L'Ecole de Paris from the postwar period.

His painting style is figurative with expressive graphic contours within a modern context. Present in most of the Salons de Peinture and very representative of the spirit of freedom within all artists, this can be seen with this depiction of riders enjoying the outdoor freedom.
