Jennifer J L Jones (b.1971) is an American artist raised in rural Virginia and the central east coast of Florida. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois. Jones utilizes nature as inspiration for her mixed media paintings, exploring energy and beauty. Nature, as she sees it, is found not only in recognizable organic objects such as leaves and flowers but also in the intangible moments of change. Her paintings appear to be a meditation on this dichotomy; identifiable shapes and forms float within a mist of color, drips and texture. Through multiple layers of abstraction and combined mediums including a refined glazing technique, she creates rich organic patinas that evoke emotions, thoughts, and universal connecting points in the observer. The palimpsest quality of her painting allows the viewer, like Jones herself, to sift through the layers of paint thereby discovering the ever-shifting meaning behind each individual work. Jones' elegant paintings combine a poetic, sensual grace with consistently bold execution.

Jones' long-established career is highlighted by exhibitions in select national and international galleries. Her paintings are highly sought after and can be found in numerous private and corporate collections world wide such as the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Oprah Winfrey/Harpo Studios, Scana Energy, and the U.S. Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal. Jones currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia and recently published her first book based on her prolific 'Serenata' series, influenced by a month long residency in Italy. Recent inspirations are from Jones' residency in Provence, France, followed by her first exhibition with Alan Avery Art Company in Atlanta, Georgia. Upcoming exhibitions scheduled for 2013 include her first opening in Paris, France (in association with Besharat Gallery in Barbizon, France and the Taylor Foundation), a solo exhibition in Santa Fe, New Mexico at Hunter Kirkland Contemporary, and her first solo exhibition at Aberson Exhibits, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
