When one attempts to understand a great artist it can be a daunting prospect, to not only understand, but to reinterpret that artist is a huge challenge that very few would be able to rise to. In 2004 Berlin visited St.Remy and made the decision to understand Van Gogh; the result was a series of paintings that show how well Berlin came to that understanding. The technique and content scream Van Gogh but this is a new and fresh vision executed with depth and integrity by a new modern master.
