NYC 1982
Price On Request **NYC 1982**Silver Gelatin Archival Print Editon of 13 + 2 AP 18 x 24 cm 30 x 40 cm 40 x 50 cm**The artist: Miron Zownir**As the "poet of radical photography," German-Ukrainian artist Miron Zownirhas been chronicling the dark side of human existence for more than 30 years, in Western capitals such as Berlin, London and New York as well as in post-communist Eastern Europe. His photos depict outsiders in society: drug addicts, homeless people, prostitutes and minor criminals. Zownir's pictures give a penetrating insight to inner-city sub-cultural spheres. His lens captured the untamed lust at gay-parties, just before AIDS massively claimed its victims; the futile protest of artists and offbeat performers; the hopelessness on the Bowery; the shadowy world of hookers or junkies. Zownir's radical works have been shown in numerous exhibitions including two shows, _Darkside I_ and _Darkside II_in the Fotomuseum Winterthur (2008/2009), where his photos were shown together with works by Araki, Nan Goldin, Robert Mapplethorpe, Weegee and Larry Clark.
