He studied Applied Arts at the Kunstgewerbeschule and the F&F Schule für Gestaltung, in Zurich and subsequently, Art at the University of California - Los Angeles at the Art Center of Design – Pasadena. In 2006, he attained the Master of Fine Arts of Chelsea College of Art and Design – London. In his art, Denzler integrates knowledge acquired from a background in new media and computer graphics with a colour palette that is inspired by old dusty Polaroid cameras and the abstract expressionist movement of the 1950s. Denzler expresses realism and immobility whereby the basis for his works are photographs that he has taken himself. He uses photos of landscapes, portraits of people he knows, mirroring sequences of everyday life in its simplicity. Through this procedure, Denzler shows a wish to control, using these photos as a guide to his paintings and their storytelling. He adds a dramatic character to his works with the use of the Impasto technique and he then softens the effect in certain places of the canvas, by delicately disporting the image from a flowing form figurative to a more abstract style. His creations are full of motion, passion, violence and beautiful visual balance. As Denzler said during an interview, he is “principally concerned with addressing time and evoking a narrative through composition, light, and motion”.
