Emma Hack
Price On Request
The Cat Street Gallery is thrilled to present Emma Hack’s first solo show in Hong Kong. One of the gallery’s latest discoveries, highly sought-after Australian artist Emma Hack presents a survey selection of her intriguing and magically surreal photographic works. With a new take on camouflage, Hack paints the bodies of her models, submerging them into her dreamy, wistful and playful backdrops, giving the alluring perspective on the female figure whilst mining the relationship between painting and photography. Hack’s intricate works take anywhere from 8 - 15 hours to paint, depending on the complexity of the design. An exhausting process for model and subject alike but with breathtaking results, in which she depicts unique Australian flora and fauna, as well as Oriental influences. In 2011, Hack gained significant international exposure for her collaboration with Grammy award winning musician Gotye, resulting in the iconic music video for ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’, which has accrued over 420 million hits on YouTube. Hack is represented by galleries throughout Australia, as well as London, New York, Singapore and Taiwan. Her work is held in numerous private and corporate collections globally.
