US$12,101.50 Hans HemmertThought Bubble 21, 2010, 35 x 45 x 44 cm, 39 kg Material: concrete, Devileye Audi A4 © Hans Hemmert / Bild-Kunst, Bonn 2017Hans Hemmert (Hollstadt, 1960) lives and works in Berlin. After studying at the city's Akademie der Künste, he went on to the prestigious St. Martin's School in London, the mecca since the sixties of the masters of modern Anglo-Saxon sculpture. As is characteristic of modern sculpture, his artistic investigation is centred on the abstract redefinition of real space, leading him to use since 1992 a surprising material: air. This, and latex (the rubber of children's balloons), and later the artist himself, are the components of his œuvre. Hemmert's performative sculptures have entered the annals of contemporary photography. His work has been exhibited at some of the world's most renowned contemporary museums including the MoMa in New York, the Museum Folkwang in Essen, the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea - CGAC in Santiago de Compostella, the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein and the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai. His artwork has also been acquired by prestigious collections including those of Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art Helsinki, Malmö Konsthall, and the German Bundestag.
