The Tarutao Archipel is situated in the far south of Thailand whose main island, a former penal colony for political prisoners, is now a fantastically well-preserved National Maritime Park. In the photo, the man fishing with a net in 50 cm of water is a ranger watching over the protection of the treasure that this island constitutes having escaped the destructive curse of mass tourism.

**The artist: Jean-Marc Bernard**

Born in Monaco, Jean - Marc Bernard studied biologic oceanography. Impassioned by photography, he abandoned, in 1997, his scientific career and created in 2001 theBebop Jazz Galerie, a cultural space and an associative that mixes the arts and jazz.
