US$83.09 The photographs of Andre Arment, captured in the province of Banten and Western Java in Indonesia, reveal all of the harmony and magnificence of his native land, richly diverse on both the human and environmental levels. Starting with a vision, an emotion, he manages to give them a metaphorical form that is as symbolic as it is artistic, through photographic means. Represented in enchanting landscapes bathed in light, the characters photographed in their everyday life embody the sacred dimension of these sites in an exemplary manner. The artist takes pains to find the perfect lighting, the ideal moment, and the best possible positioning and point of view for his shots, creating dynamic and colourful compositions that plunge us into the tropical and bewitching atmosphere of the islands.**The artist: Andre Arment**Originally from Indonesia, Andre Arment finds his creative inspiration in this country where he grew up. Born in 1977 on the island of Sumatra, he has lived and worked in Jakarta as an independent photographer since 2004\\. He taught himself this practice, roaming the various regions of his country in his search for new encounters and visual sensations. With over 13 000 islands, Indonesia is the largest archipelago in the world. By placing the human figure at the heart of his concerns, the artist questions the relationship that people maintain with their environment. Indonesia?s natural world is still vast and wild, and owing to its tropical climate, the island still holds its status as the second largest zone of biodiversity in the world today, after Brazil. Andre Arment brings a sensitive and poetic gaze to bear on his picturesque landscapes and on the lifestyle of its inhabitants, which he naturally relates to his childhood memories.
