Chanel: My Fair Lady

Celebrated for her style sensibility, Coco Chanel has been credited with ushering in an era of boyish minimalism with her trademark suits.

Identified by his tinted sunglasses and neatly pressed monochromatic suits, Karl Lagerfeld currently serves as the creative force behind Chanel, a French brand synonymous with the little black dress, classic femininity, understated sophistication and the introduction of the collarless tweed jacket. Following her mother’s demise, Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel mastered the ability to sew from the nuns at the orphanage and acquired the name Coco after a brief stint as a performer. Celebrated for her style sensibility, Coco Chanel has been credited with ushering in an era of boyish minimalism with her trademark suits.

Although she was responsible for advocating the notion of abandoning the restricted confines of the corset for men-inspired garments, Chanel still embodies the essence of discreet female allure. In addition to creating a simple glass bottle containing a seductive jasmine-scented liquid otherwise known as Chanel No. 5 and developing the Rouge Coromandel lip color, other signature items that define the French label include their famed black classic flap bag which retails at $19 000 on Luxify. Produced from quilted lambskin, this iconic statement piece has been carried by the likes of Alexa Chung, Kristen Dunst and Lauren Conrad.
