An Edwardian knife shop display modelled as an oversized ebony razor, the polished steel blade marked 'Wolstenholme'.
In the Victorian and Edwardian periods, just as today, shop displays were an essential part of attracting customers to enter a shop. In order to attract attention over-sized versions of objects were made to be used as displays in shop windows or otherwise placed on the shop counter.

This penknife was one such object. The firm of Wolstenholme was incorporated in 1908 and continues to trade to this day ast TGW, 'The World's Leading Knife Manufacturer'.
