An early 19th century inkwell stand carved from a single cross-section of Cherry-wood now matured to the most fabulous colour and patina. It features a sailor with a peg-leg, rolled up trousers and beret. His expression implies he has come to terms with his disability and is now filled again with joie de vivre.
