A Documentary Donyatt Puzzle-jug Dated 1827

An exquisite documentary slipware-scraffito puzzle-jug dated 1827. Decorated with the vivid colours that were fashionable at the Donyatt pottery during the 1820's & 30's. It retains it's original spout and bears a rhyme on it's shoulder : When this you see remember me and bear me in your mind; though I am seldom at your house speak of me as you find: This jug was made for William Hurford and is inscribed in a square reserve on it's front 'W. Hurford - June 2nd 1827' It has remained within that family it's entire existence and been passed down by descent until our purchase. Place of Origin: Donyatt, Somerset, England.
