A late Victorian silver plated Wine Bottle Pourer, the winding mechanism with a turned ebony handle, the rounded rectangular base engraved with the Mappin & Webb monogram, surmounted by a circular carrying handle which doubles up with a screw action to hold the bottle in place, also marked H&H for Hukin & Heath.

Mappin & Webb are silversmiths to Queen Elizabeth II and The Prince of Wales and their high status has endured for over a century. They were bought by Asprey & Co in the 1980's.
Hukin & Heath produced a lot of silver and silver plate which was retailed by Mappin & Webb. Based in Birmingham, they are best known for their production in the 1879's and 1880's of silver and silver plate under the guidance of the important designer Dr Christopher Dresser.

Our Wine Pourer thus has an illustrious pedigree and was made to grace a resplendent dining table to impress guests with its style and ease of use.
