The Hanyu Distillery, producing whisky, was located in a town with the same name. The company was founded by the Akuto family, who had been in brewing business since the 1600s. In the 1980s, the company began distilling whisky, but unfortunately, this failed to last, with the company closing down in 2000. Bottles from it are, however, highly sought after.
This Hanyu 12 Year Old 2000 'The Game III' for Shinanoya was bottled for their 5th Anniversary. It was distilled last 2000 in a Red Oak Heads Hogshead Cask #360. Only 309 bottles were released. A rare whisky that worth a try!
